These cats are less adaptable to family life. They are active, react quickly, quite silent, and don’t need much attention.

Also they are sociable and loving, never demanding and quite independent. Siberians are very suspicious of strangers. They are very good hunters and like outdoor spaces. So, people who want to have Siberian cat make sure to have access to the garden.

Breed’s standard

Siberian is a large and strong cat. Female breeds are smaller than male breeds.

  • Chin: A well rounded chin
  • Eyes: Large and round eyes set wide apart
  • Legs: Hind legs are slightly larger than front legs, with large and rounded paws
  • Hair: Moderate to long haired coat

Breed’s grooming

It has thick and water resistant triple coat, full collar ruff, bitches on the hind legs as well as a bushy tail. Despite the length of the coat, it is easy to groom. Brushing each week can help to keep the coat in good condition. Brushing the hair each day will help to remove the dead hair and also prevent the formation of knots.

Breed’s health

These cats have at least one hereditary health condition, such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).All the Siberians that will be bred should be screened for HCM, and the kittens identified with HCM need to be removed from the breeding programs.
